Law enforcement engaging with civilians on urban corridor
An individual, subsequently taken into custody for reportedly striking police officers with a deli product, communicates with immigration and FBI agents.

A federal customs official has testified he could sense through his protective gear the collision of a sandwich thrown at him by a capital city activist, who has stood before a judge for criminal charge.

Immigration and customs agent Gregory Lairmore testified to the court panel the snack "burst all over him" and he "detected the onions and yellow sauce" on his uniform.

No party contests that the defendant, thirty-seven, did in fact throw obscenities and a deli-style sandwich at officers sent by the administration to patrol the Washington DC in late summer.

The incident was filmed on video and spread across the internet, making Mr Dunn a figure of opposition in Washington DC to the former president.

Government prosecutors originally tried to achieve serious criminal counts against the accused, but a grand jury declined to prosecute him.

The former president's deployment of National Guard troops to Washington DC this warmer months generated protest from some of the local inhabitants, who viewed it as a partisan deployment of the armed forces.

According to court papers, the defendant approached a law enforcement team at about late evening on 10 August, describing them "extremists" and yelling: "What is your purpose? Your presence is unwanted in my city!"

The court observed a demonstration from the officer on the trial day as he testified against the defendant.

"I detected it through my body armor," he said of the food's collision, adding that an vegetable piece remained from his police radio and sauce stained his clothing.

The accused's lawyer, his legal representative, stated in her court presentation that hurling the sandwich was a "innocent action that did not, could not, cause injury".

But government attorney the prosecutor maintained the defendant must be facing consequences.

"Whatever your status, you can't just go around hurling objects at individuals because you're angry," the attorney declared.

After the reported incident became public, Mr Dunn was dismissed from his job as a legal assistant in the government law department.
